Dorothy H. "Dottie" Proper, 75, of 66 Westchester Ave. died Tuesday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center.
She had been a patient at Hillcrest Commons for three years.
Born in Pittsfield on July 15, 1929, daughter of George Butler Sr. and Ruth Borden Butler, she attended local schools.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Proper had worked at one time as a machine operator for the former MacKenzie Plastics on Peck's Road and as an assembler at Berkshire Computer in Lenox.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
She was a member of the former 59's Club of Pittsfield and the Senior Center.
She enjoyed playing bingo and going to bazaars and penny socials.
Her husband, Myron A. Proper Sr., whom she married July 7, 1952, died Oct. 17, 1992.
She leaves three sons, Charles F. Proper of Pownal, Vt., Myron A. Proper Jr. of Cheshire and Wayne J. Proper Sr. of Pittsfield; two daughters, Ruth M. Buniger of Westminster, Colo., and Christine A. Brasie of Pittsfield; a sister, Eleanor Gardner of Pittsfield; a brother, George Butler Jr. of Topsfield, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Dorothy H. "Dottie" Proper who died Oct. 19, 2004, will be conducted Saturday at 9 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 8 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the funeral home.
She was predeceased by a brother, Wesley Butler.
