Arnold M. Huskins

Arnold M. Huskins, 86, of 340 Onota St. died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since September.

Born in Boston on June 13, 1918, son of Joseph A. and Margaret Atwood Huskins, he was a 1935 graduate of Mechanic Arts High School there.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he flew 53 missions as a bombardier on a B-24 Liberator bomber in the South Pacific. He was a member of the 9243 Air Reserve Squadron, retiring in 1978 as a lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Huskins was employed by GE for 33 years as a design draftsman in the ordnance manufacturing, regulators and power transformer divisions, retiring in 1980. During high school, he worked as a lobsterman with his father.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge and was active with the Boy Scouts as a merit badge counselor and the camping and activities director.

He was an avid fly fisherman and reader.

He and his wife, the former Evelyn W. Johnson, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 2.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert A. Huskins of Cheshire, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Arnold M. Huskins, who died Oct. 19, 2004, will be conducted Thursday at 2 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Dr. Roger A. Davis, pastor of First United Methodist Church.

Burial will be Friday in Woodside Cemetery in Cohasset. Calling hours will be Thursday from 1 until the time of the service. Among survivors are his daughter-in-law, Linda M. Huskins; grandchildren Christie M. Fontaine, Stephanie C. LaBlanc, Cindy E. Huskins, Travis J. Lanski and Bethany L. Ramirez; great-grandchildren Amanda Fontaine, Madelyn Fontaine, Ryan LaBlanc, Jaquelyn LaBlanc and Alexis Ramirez. A sister, Beatrice E. Collins, and a brother, Lloyd M. Huskins, predeceased him.

Donations are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
