Vincent H. Arthur, 72, of 2116 Swamp Road died yesterday morning at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 20, 1931, son of Russell H. and Mary Toner Arthur, he was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He had lived in Richmond for 40 years.
Mr. Arthur had been employed as a machinist at the former Jones-Beloit Co. in Dalton for 28 years, retiring in 1994.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the West Stockbridge Sportsman's Club.
He also enjoyed gardening and was a Red Sox fan.
He and his wife, the former Evelyn E. Jamross, were married May 23, 1953, in St. Mark's Church in Pittsfield.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Daniel T. Arthur of Youghal, Ireland, and Jeffrey O. Arthur of Pittsfield, and four grandchildren. Another son, Lee A. Arthur, died in 1963.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Vincent H. Arthur, 72, of Richmond, who died Oct. 16, 2004, will be Tuesday at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 1 at St. Mark's Church by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. He leaves his four grandchildren, Kayleigh, April, Rebecca and Adam, and siblings Maureen and David.
Predeceased by many brothers and sisters. The Arthur family would like to acknowledge everyone from HospiceCare in the Berkshires for the wonderful care given to Vincent during his illness, with a special thank you to Laurie Moon.
