Rosemary B. Schmidt, 65, of Brown Street died Friday at work at Berkshire Recovery Center after suffering an apparent heart failure.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 11, 1938, daughter of Charles M. and Leah Pellerin Bordeau, she was a 1956 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. She studied psychology at Berkshire Community College and acquired counseling certifications as a certified addiction counselor.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Schmidt was employed as a counselor at the McGee Unit of Berkshire Recovery Center, where she had worked for more than 15 years.
She enjoyed astrology, attending playhouses with her brother, and traveling with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
She leaves three sons, Jerry D. Schmidt of Cheshire, Conn., Karl R. Schmidt of Chicopee and Andrew R. Schmidt of Pittsfield; two brothers, Charles Bordeau and Edward Bordeau, both of Pittsfield, and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Rosemary B. Schmidt, 65, of Pittsfield, who died Oct. 15, 2004, will be conducted Tuesday at 11:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Chuck Young.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Rosemary's greatest joy was spending time with and caring for her children and grandchildren, Karl, Leigha, Mark, Lynelle, Timothy and Michael.
Family remained her highest priority and first love throughout her life. Whether she was spending time with a beloved grandchild or pouring herself into her counseling, she enriched the lives of all those who had the great fortune to be touched by her unconditional love and unwavering optimism. She was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Bordeau.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
