Dorothy "Dodie" Delano, 53, of 379 East St. died yesterday morning at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 30, 1950, daughter of Joan W. Lambert Corl of Pittsfield and the late Charles H. Corl Sr., she was a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and a 1968 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She was employed at Berkshire Medical Center in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1990 after seven years of service. She also worked at Adrien's Diner for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed animals.
She was also an avid Red Sox and Miami Dolphin fan.
Her husband, William Delano, died in 1985.
Besides her mother, she leaves two daughters, Christine Stryker Giarusso of Barre and Sara Stryker of Pittsfield; a brother, Richard Corl of Pittsfield; a sister, Carolyn Clevenger of Pittsfield; four stepsisters, Barbara Giusti of Windsor, Patricia Smith of Maine, Andrea Gaylord of Pittsfield and Linda Marshall of Maryland; a stepbrother, Charles Corl Jr. of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Dorothy "Dodie" Corl died in Pittsfield on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004. Funeral services will be Thursday at 8:15 from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7. If friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
Dodie was the beloved grandmother to Andrew and Morgan Giarusso. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
