Irene V. Mazza, 90, formerly of 17 Oswald Ave. and Providence Court, died Sunday at Providence Care Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 18, 1914, daughter of Andrew F. and Margaret Donahue Kushi, she was educated in local schools.
Mrs. Mazza was employed as a ward clerk on the maternity floor at Berkshire Medical Center for 18 years, retiring in 1976. Before that, she worked at A.H. Rice Silk Mill for 18 years and for the former Federal Bakery as a cake decorator.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality, and a founding member of the Berkshire County Association of Retarded Citizens.
She leaves a niece, Rita Connors of Pittsfield. Her son, Peter J. Mazza, died Feb. 10, 1994.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Irene V. Mazza, 90, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation in care of the funeral home.
She was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Mercer, on Jan. 9, 1999. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family.
