Edward J. Chase Sr

Edward J. Chase Sr., 88, of Brewster, formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after an illness.
Born in Boston on July 18, 1916, son of William W. and Mary Jervis Chase, he was raised in Worcester and graduated from high school there. He also graduated from Becker College in Worcester.
He moved to Pittsfield in 1946 and to Brewster in 1984.
Mr. Chase was employed in various positions, including parts manager, by Berkshire Ford for 35 years. He also had worked at a Lincoln Mercury dealership for eight years until his retirement.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Berkshire Hills Country Club.
He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and both fresh and salt water fishing.
He and his wife, the former Frances R. Latino, were married 60 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Edward J. Chase Jr. of Maryland, Paul Chase of New Jersey, William Chase of Worcester and Richard Chase of Brewster; a daughter, Deborah Sajdak of the state of Florida; a brother, Richard Chase of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Mary Ham of Annapolis, Md., 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Mass for Edward J. Chase Sr., who died Oct. 2, 2004, will be held tomorrow, Oct. 8, at 11 at Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster.
Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of COUTINHO-BOISSE FUNERAL HOME of Harwich Center. Memorial donations may be made in honor of Edward J. Chase to the American Heart Association of the Cape and Islands, 2 White Path, Yarmouth, MA 02664.
