Dino J. Perego

Dino J. Perego, 38, of 121 Plunkett St. died Saturday morning of injuries sustained in a truck accident on Route 7 in Pittsfield.

Born in Dorchester on Feb. 21, 1966, son of Eugene J. Perego of Pittsfield and the late Eugenia Saracino Perego Giannini, he was a 1984 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Before living in Pittsfield, he had resided in Hinsdale, Peru and Hudson, N.Y.

At the time of his death, Mr. Perego was employed as a distributor for Pittsfield News, where he had worked for 20 years. At one time, he was manager of one of the company's distribution facilities in Hudson.

He was a longtime volunteer at area drug- and alcohol-rehabilitation centers and served as a sponsor for those recovering from alcohol and substance abuse. He bowled in many leagues at Ken's Bowl, enjoyed photography and was a Red Sox fan.

Besides his father, he leaves a sister, Carrie A. Salvatore of the town of Washington, and his stepfather, Richard N. Giannini of Willington, Conn.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dino J. Perego, 38, of Pittsfield, who died Oct. 2, 2004, will be Wednesday at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at St. Teresa's Church by the Rev. John Varley, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Oct. 5, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Dino loved people, and he gave unconditionally to help others and those recovering from alcohol and substance abuse.

He will be greatly missed by his two nieces, Jessica L. Salvatore and Cassidy R. Salvatore, with whom he loved spending time; his brother-in-law, Dominic Salvatore, and his aunts, Merry VanBramer, Theresa Carol and Beverly Bassett.

Memorial donations may be made to the SIOGA Club of Pittsfield in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
