Melba Agnes Wendling

Melba Agnes Wendling, 90, formerly of Epworth Arms, died yesterday morning at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she had resided since June 2002.
Born in New York City on Oct. 14, 1913, daughter of John and Agnes Lund Sandberg, she was a graduate of the Black River School System in Ludlow, Vt.
Mrs. Wendling was employed as head housekeeper at Berkshire Medical Center for 28 years, retiring in the 1970s.
She was a former member of Pilgrim Memorial Church.
She enjoyed braiding rugs and embroidery.
She leaves five sons, John Wendling of Lebanon Springs, N.Y., Bruce Wendling of Rockledge, Fla., and Richard Wendling, Ralph Wendling and Peter Wendling, all of Pittsfield; a daughter, Sandra P. Rawson of Richmond; a brother, John Sandberg of Ludlow; a sister, Dorothy Hammond of Amesbury; 28 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Donald W. Wendling on May 10, 1992.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Melba Agnes Wendling, who died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 at Pittsfield Cemetery by the Rev. Gay M. Rahn, associate rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Those attending are invited to meet inside the cemetery gate at 10:45. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Arthur and Sandra Rawson, 670 Dublin Road, Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Wendling may be made to Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield 01201.
