Kenneth J. Mercure, 84, of 96 Marian Ave. died yesterday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on April 2, 1920, son of Raymond and Florence Fentner Mercure, he attended Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Mercure was employed for many years as a machine operator at the former Jones-Beloit Co., GE and the former Clark Aiken Co. in Lee, from which he retired in 1982.
He was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pittsfield, enjoyed playing in local bowling leagues and was an amateur videographer.
He was a past treasurer of United Commercial Travelers.
His wife, the former Evelyn Wring, whom he married Nov. 16, 1942, died Feb. 6, 1993.
He leaves three daughters, Aleeta Fawcett Sanders of Tampa, Fla., and Lois Potash and Melodye Guitard, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Helen Keeler of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Kenneth J. Mercure, who died Aug. 17, 2004, will be conducted Friday at 2 at Pittsfield Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Peter Boehringer, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Friends are asked to meet inside the cemetery gate at 1:45. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield 01201.
