Harriet E. Sabin

Harriet E. Sabin, 77, of 39 John St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Born in Watertown on July 16, 1927, daughter of Harry and Helen Jameson Pollard, she was a 1945 graduate of Watertown High School.

She moved to Pittsfield in 1946 and then moved to Dalton.

Mrs. Sabin was a swimming teacher at the Dalton Community House for many years and a member of its Walking Club. She also volunteered there.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

She and her husband, Herbert S. Sabin, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary June 16.

Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Wendy Streeter of Dalton; two foster sons, Wayne Wick of Dalton and Kim LaVigne of Pittsfield, whom she raised; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A son, Glenn Sabin, died in 1995, and another daughter, Marilyn Connor, died in 2004. She was also a foster mother to many other children.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Harriet E. Sabin will be conducted Wednesday at 11 at Grace Episcopal Church of Dalton by the Rev. Mary F. Schreiber, rector.

Burial will be in Ashuelot Cemetery, Dalton. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. Donations are suggested to the Dalton Ambulance Fund.

Survivors include grandchildren, Joseph Bacon, Audrey Herrick and Darcie Pease, and great-grandchildren, Alecia Herrick, Nathan Pease and Kendra Pease, all of Dalton.
