Frank A. "Red" Russo, 79, of 321 Wahconah St. died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 29, 1924, son of Antonio and Elizabeth Stillitano Russo, he was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European, African, Middle Eastern theaters.
Mr. Russo had been employed by GE for 34 years, retiring in 1985 as an inspector in the ordinance department.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and was an avid Red Sox fan.
He enjoyed gardening and yard work.
His wife, the former Barbara E. Vinette, whom he married June 10, 1950, in St. Charles' Church, died Aug. 5, 1996.
He leaves a daughter, Patricia A. Rusan of Amman, Jordan; three sons, Thomas A. Russo of Lanesboro and Frank J. Russo and Matthew J. Russo, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Rose Pivero of Pittsfield, eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Frank A. "Red" Russo, 79, died in Pittsfield on Aug. 11, 2004. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 17, at 8 from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund in care of the funeral home.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Antoinette Pivero, Josephine Aulisio, Frances Giardina and Lucy Savage, and by his brothers, John Russo, Guy Russo and Anthony Russo.
