Sinaldo C. Christopher, 89, died Tuesday evening at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided for 2 1/2 years.
Born in Lenox on Sept. 16, 1914, son of Biagio and Enrica Dicicio Christopher, he attended schools there.
He resided in Pittsfield for most of his life.
Mr. Christopher was employed by GE in the power transformer department for 36 years, traveling throughout the country transporting and installing transformers. He retired Jan. 1, 1977. Prior to that, he had worked as a cook and groundskeeper at many Lenox estates.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
He was a member of the Polish Community, the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and the GE Athletic Association, where he was a great scratch golfer.
He enjoyed following thoroughbred horse racing.
His wife, the former Agnes Borkowski, whom he married May 1, 1935, died in 1995.
He leaves a daughter, Rita Burns of Pittsfield; four brothers, Rudolph Christopher of Enfield, Conn., Daniel Christopher of Lancaster, Calif., Walter Christopher of Pittsfield and William Christopher of Dalton; a sister, Edith Mangano of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Sinaldo C. Christopher died in Pittsfield on Tuesday evening, Aug. 10, 2004. Beloved Pada to Karen Karlberg and James Burns. The funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 14, at 8:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in Holy Family Church.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Aug. 13, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
