Raymond Michael Roche

Raymond Michael Roche, 60, of Pomeroy Manor died Saturday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after having been stricken earlier in the day.

Born in Washington, D.C., on July 16, 1944, son of Lawrence S. and Louise Anne Stotler Roche, he was a 1962 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School and earned an associate degree in accounting from Berkshire Com-munity College.

A Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he served as a corporal from Aug. 4, 1966, to May 1, 1969.

Mr. Roche was employed in the accounts receivable department of GE Plastics for six years. Before that, he worked at the Greyhound Bus Station as a ticket agent and at the former Great Barrington Savings Bank, now Berkshire Bank.

At the time of his death, he was commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9566 and a member of the Dalton American Legion.

He was a Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed fishing and music.

He leaves a son, Christian Roche of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Meghan Pratt of Canaan, Conn., and Seana Roche of Ashley Falls; a brother, Lawrence Roche of Jackpot, Nev.; two sisters, Kathleen Zaks of Lanesboro and Dorothy Roche of Dalton; the mother of his daughters, Ellen Stoecker of Canaan, Conn.; his former wife, Sandra Meyers Roche of Jacksonville, Fla., and two grandchildren. He also leaves the mother of his daughters, Ellen Stoecker of Canaan Conn., and his former wife, Sandra Meyers Roche of Jacksonville, Fla.

FUNERAL NOTICE-- A graveside service with full military honors for Raymond M. Roche, who died Saturday, July 24, 2004, will be conducted Wednesday, July 28, at 10 at Ashuelot Cemetery, Dalton, by the Rev. William D. Furey.

Calling hours will be today, July 27, from 4 to 7 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dalton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9566 in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton.

Mr. Roche also leaves his grandchildren, Christopher and Connor Pratt.
