Isabelle A. Knollmeyer

Isabelle A. Knollmeyer, 85, of 60 Richard Drive died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons after a short illness.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 20, 1918, daughter of Louis F. and Kathryn Ryan Knollmeyer, she was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in English magna cum laude in 1958 from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and her master of arts degree in library science in 1962 from Pratt Institute in New York City.
She also graduated from a community college in Loveland, Ohio.
Miss Knollmeyer was employed as a librarian for 15 years at the former Crosby Junior High School and at Taconic High School, retiring in 1977. She first worked as an administrative secretary at GE for five years, then as a reference librarian at the Berkshire Athenaeum.
She also worked as a children's librarian on Long Island for several years.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality.
She won an award for her poetry while attending the university.
She leaves a sister, Elaine Knollmeyer, with whom she made her home, and a brother, Roger Knollmeyer of East Sandwich.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Miss Isabelle A. Knollmeyer died in Pittsfield on Wednesday, July 21, 2004. The funeral will be Saturday, July 24, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, July 23, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Hillcrest Commons Activity Fund in care of the funeral home.
Miss Knollmeyer was predeceased by three brothers, Lewis, Donald and Paul. She also leaves 17 nieces and nephews.
