Genevieve Ann Hajjar

Genevieve Ann Hajjar, 79, of 335 Elm St. died Wednesday evening at home.

Born in Adams, Aug. 7, 1924, daughter of Louis and Jamelia Shaker George, she was a graduate of the former Adams High School and the former North Adams Business College.

Mrs. Hajjar was a homemaker and during the 1940s, was employed as a draftsperson at General Electric, along with other drafting positions.

She also worked for Mullen Mayflower.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

She played the clarinet and piano, enjoyed singing and was an artist.

She also enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren.

She and her husband, Nelson E. Hajjar were married May 23, 1949.

Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Thomas Hajjar of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Robert Hajjar of Wellesley; three daughters, Sandra Robertson, Jeannie Hajjar and Joanie Bartlett, all of Pittsfield; a brother, Richard George of Adams; two sisters, Doris Koczela of Adams and Jeanne Betros of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE-- Genevieve Ann Hajjar, who died Wednesday, July 14, was predeceased by twin brothers, Alfred and Fred George and a sister, Martha George. She leaves her four grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Erick and Trevor.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hajjar will be held Saturday, July 17, at 8:15, from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9, at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, from 4 to 7, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Hajjar may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
