Catherine B. Boyd, 87, of 21 Abbott St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 3, 1917, daughter of Peter J. and Mary A. Sullivan Malloy, she was a 1935 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Boyd was employed as an assembler by GE in the ordnance department for 21 years, retiring in 1979.
A communicant of St. Charles' Church, she was a member of its Rosary Sodality, a eucharistic minister and a member of the Legion of Mary, which distributed communion at local nursing homes.
She enjoyed crocheting, and arts and crafts, and was a member of the GE Pensioners' Club.
Her husband, Donald "Biff" Boyd, whom she married April 22, 1946, in St. Mary's Church, died Feb. 9, 2000.
She leaves two sons, Peter M. Boyd and John J. Boyd, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Cathleen A. Bourquard of Housatonic; a sister, Margaret Boyd of Pittsfield, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Another son, Michael J. Boyd, died Aug. 23, 1969.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Catherine B. Boyd, 87, died in Pittsfield on July 12, 2004. The funeral will be tomorrow, July 14, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, July 13, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Charles' Church in care of the funeral home.
