Edith Lore Schueller, 91, of Kimball Farms Retirement Community died Friday morning at its nursing facility, where she had been a patient for one week.
Born in Vienna, Austria, on Feb. 14, 1913, the daughter of Ernst and Gertrude Neumann Geiringer, she attended schools there and received her college degree from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. She immigrated to the United States in 1938 and settled in New York City.
She later resided in New Rochelle, N.Y., for many years before moving to Kimball Farms in 1995.
Mrs. Schueller was employed in various positions for more than 20 years by the Post Cereal division of General Foods Corp., retiring as a marketing manager in 1978.
She enjoyed the outdoors and was interested in environmental and natural conservation. Until recently, she took annual hiking trips to the Austrian and Swiss Alps.
She also enjoyed flowers, classical music and attending concerts at Tanglewood.
Her husband, Herbert Hugo Schueller, whom she married in Vienna on July 4, 1935, died March 26, 2003.
She leaves a son, Thomas G. Schueller of New York City; a daughter, Kathleen S. Richardson of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Edith Lore Schueller, who died July 9, 2004, also is survived by her loving grandchildren Kate Emerson of Seattle, Matthew Schueller of Boulder, Colo., John Schueller of New York City and Jonathan Richardson of San Francisco.
A memorial service will be conducted at a time to be announced at Kimball Farms Retirement Community in Lenox. There will be no public calling hours and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers those who desire may make donations in her memory to the Nature Conservancy or Berkshire Medical Center, both in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
