Marguerite Marie Rand, 80, of 4 Claire Place died Sunday evening at home.
Born in Adams on June 12, 1924, daughter of Alfred and Georgette Marin Mouhat, she was a graduate of the former Adams High School.
Mrs. Rand was an antiques and flea-market dealer, working along the East Coast. She also had co-owned the former Mar-Loy Antiques in Lanesboro for two years. Before that, she was head chambermaid at the former Breezy Knoll Inn and later at the former Music Inn in Lenox. She also had worked in the woolen mills in Adams.
She was a campaign volunteer for former City Councilor Peter G. Arlos for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting and bingo.
She and her husband, Robert L. Rand, were married April 25, 1942, in North Adams.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, James R. Rand and Craig A. Rand, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Lynn M. Rand-Bartolotta of Pittsfield; a sister, Sandra Wood of East Nassau, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Donna Rand-Miller, died Mary 2, 1994.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Marguerite Marie Rand, who died Sunday, July 4, will be conducted tomorrow, July 8, at 11:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Rand may be made to Shriners' Hospital or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
Mrs. Rand is also survived by 14 grandchildren, including Michele Alfonso and Marcella Cornwell, who were her caregivers. She was predeceased by a grandson, Paul F. Miller Jr. in 1987, and a sister, Ethlyne Frank.
