Ethel Rita Kellar, 84, of 36 Sunset St. died yesterday morning at Craneville Place of Dalton, where she had resided for eight months.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 13, 1920, daughter of John P. and Sadie L. O'Brien Honiker, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Kellar had been employed as a housekeeper for the Pittsfield Police Department for more than 15 years. She retired in 1984.
Her husband, Joseph J. Kellar, whom she married Feb. 12, 1947, died Jan. 5, 1971.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and a former member of the 4-H Club.
She enjoyed traveling and trips to Foxwoods casino.
She leaves a daughter, Beverly E. Kellar of Pittsfield; three sons, Joseph F. Kellar, Francis E. Kellar and Peter E. Kellar, all of Pittsfield, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Ethel R. Kellar, who died July 6, 2004, will be Thursday at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, July 7, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire County Jimmy Fund or to the Craneville Place of Dalton Activities Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Kellar is lovingly survived by her nine adored grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed spending time: Michelle Creamer, Brian Kellar, Jeffrey Kellar, Jennifer Kellar, Maureen Michaels, Jacob Kellar, Tiffany Herzog, Erin Michaels and Katie Lynn Hoffman. Also survived by her three cherished great-grandchildren and her devoted daughters-in-law, Carol, Trish and Susan Kellar.
