Elaine Elizabeth Krouse, 84, of the Village at Laurel Lake in Lee died Saturday morning at Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
She was a former resident of Day Street and of Richmond.
Born in Pittsfield on July 20, 1919, daughter of Alfred J. and Veronica Carmel Gilbert, she was educated in local schools.
She had been employed as a packaging inspector for Rockridge Egg Farm in Richmond for five years, retiring in 1957. She had also worked as a clerk for Traver Orchards for 10 years and as an inspector at Monument Mills in Housatonic for four years.
Mrs. Krouse was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in West Stockbridge, where she was a member of its Altar Society and Rosary Sodality.
She enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting, camping, gardening and square dancing.
She and her husband, Fred H. Krouse, were married Jan. 24, 1934.
Besides her husband, she leaves four daughters, Shirley Ann Krouse of Salt Lake City, Joan L. Krouse of Baltimore, Bernadette B. Garofoli of Richmond and Freda E. Wigglesworth of Richmond; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Fred H. Krouse Jr., and a daughter, Carolyn Krouse.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Elaine Elizabeth Gilbert Krouse, who died Saturday, July 3, will be held Tuesday, July 20, at 11:30 at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee with the Rev. Steven McGuigan, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, West Stockbridge, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Laurel Lake Center for Rehabilitation or to the charity of one's choice in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
