Donald Russell McGown

Donald Russell McGown, 79, of 329 Pittsfield Road, Devonshire Estates, died Tuesday morning at home.
He had resided in Lenox for the past six years.
Born in Lewiston, Maine, on Dec. 16, 1924, son of Russell and Ruth Burdon McGown, he was a 1942 graduate of Wilbraham Academy. He also graduated from Wesleyan College in Middletown, Conn., in 1949.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, in which he served in the European theater, and was discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. After the war, he served in the Air Force Reserves and was recalled to active duty from 1950 to 1952.
A longtime resident of West Hartford, Conn., Mr. McGown had been employed as personnel officer for the former Connecticut General Life Insurance Co., now CIGNA, in Bloomfield.
He retired in 1982 and moved to Savannah, Ga., for 16 years.
He and his wife, the former Ruth Nold, were married Sept. 3, 1946.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Sharon Lee Palma of Sheffield; a son, Michael D. McGown of East Norwalk, Conn.; a sister, Dorothy Yoder of Norwalk, Conn., and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Donald R. McGown will be at the convenience of the family. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Justin and Kali McGown.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to the Parkinson's Disease Research Fund in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
