Josephine C. Rocca, 87, formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox, where she had resided since November.
Born in Pittsfield on May 15, 1917, daughter of Joseph and Concetta Talarico Canino, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Rocca was employed by the Department of Transitional Assistance for 15 years, retiring in 1999 because of illness. She previously owned and operated the Mid-Town Motel in Dalton for several years.
She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed crafts, traveling, playing bingo and watching the Red Sox.
Her husband, Samuel M. Rocca, whom she married Aug. 8, 1937, died April 9, 1970.
She leaves two daughters, Andrea L. Joseph of Pittsfield and Janice LeBlanc of Dalton; a son, Mark S. Rocca of North Andover; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Josephine C. Rocca, who died June 26, 2004, will be Wednesday, June 30, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, June 29, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. She leaves her son-in-law, Paul LeBlanc, and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Rocca.
She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Fuad Joseph, and by two brothers and eight sisters. Josephine's children invite family and friends to the Mount Carmel Parish Center following the graveside service at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
