Charles Louis Masino, 78, of 527 South St. died Sunday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 27, 1925, son of Secundo and Madalena Vittone Masino, he was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he earned several medals.
Mr. Masino had been employed by Conrail in Pittsfield, Springfield and Selkirk, N.Y., for 38 years, retiring in 1988. Before that, he worked for GE for 10 years.
He enjoyed gardening and playing bridge.
His wife, the former Linda A. Zwingelstein, whom he married March 16, 1968, died Dec. 14, 2000.
He leaves two daughters, Susan A. Galt of West Simsbury, Conn., and Nancy A. Masino of Monterey; a son, Michael E. Masino of Billerica; a sister, Clara C. Archambault of Pittsfield, and four grandchildren. He also leaves his companion, Barbara Walton, with whom he made his home.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Charles Louis Masino will be conducted Thursday, June 24, 2004, at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor of All Souls' Church. Cremation will take place and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be tomorrow, June 23, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. He leaves four grandchildren, Zara and Tessa Masino and Katie and Jack Galt; his son-in-law, David Galt, and his daughter-in-law, Zoe Masino. He was predeceased by three brothers, Mario "Mike" Masino, Louis A. Masino and Peter J. Masino, and a sister, Armanda Avalle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rails to Trails (an organization devoted to converting old rail lines into recreational nature corridors) or HospiceCare in the Berkshires.
