Elizabeth J. Carney, 83, of 63 Hull Ave. died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 19, 1920, daughter of Harry and Harriet Robinson Armstrong, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1938.
Mrs. Carney was employed at one time by the former Liggetts Drug Store for 10 years. During World War II, she worked in the naval ordnance department of GE.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
She enjoyed playing piano, watching television and shopping, especially at the former England Brothers Department Store.
Her husband, Thomas J. Carney, whom she married Nov. 6, 1947, died July 19, 1997.
She leaves a son, Dennis Carney of Dalton, and a grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mrs. Elizabeth Armstrong Carney, who died June 18, 2004, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Gae Rahn. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Alex Carney Memorial Library at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Among survivors are a grandson, Matthew Carney. She was predeceased by another grandson, Alex Carney.
