Robert S. Howes

Robert S. Howes, 77, of Freehold, N.J., formerly of Pittsfield, died Friday at home.
He had lived in Little Falls, N.J., for more than 40 years until moving to Freehold in 1996.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served two years.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 25, 1927, son of John C. Howes Jr. and Helen Purington Howes, he was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School and later graduated from Seton Hall College in New Jersey.
Mr. Howes was an insurance salesman for 30 years with E.W. Blanksteen Agencies of New York City, and had territories in north and central New Jersey, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the Masonic Temple and Moose Lodge, both in Little Falls.
He and his wife, the former Vera Unbehend, were married April 22, 1949, in Bennington, Vt.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert Howes Jr. of Stroudsburg, Pa.; two daughters, Gail Fraum of Monroe Township, N.J., and Lauri Walther of Hampton, N.J.; two brothers, Richard Howes and John C. Howes III, both of California, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Robert S. Howes, age 77, of Freehold, N.J., died April 18, 2004. A gathering will be held Monday from 10 to 11 at CLAYTON FUNERAL HOME, 958 Adelphia Road, Route 524, Adelphia, N.J., followed by a memorial service will be at 11.
Interment will be private. Husband of Vera; beloved father of Robert, Gail and Lauri, loving grandfather of seven and adoring great-grandfather of two.
