John A. Valenti

John A. Valenti, 77, of 68 Marian Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 27, 1927, son of Angelo and Maria Lombardi Valenti, he attended local schools and graduated from a technical school for electricians in Chicago.
Mr. Valenti had been employed by GE for 33 years, retiring from the ordnance department as a test man in 1992.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the General Electric Athletic Association and a former member of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and going to OTB in New Lebanon, N.Y.
He and his wife, the former Lois T. White, celebrated their 50th anniversary June 10.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, John A. Valenti Jr. of Pittsfield and Joseph A. Valenti of Suffolk, Va.; a daughter, Joanne Phillips of Lanesboro; a brother, Rosario Valenti of Pittsfield; two sisters, Lucy DelPozzo of Albany, N.Y., and Mary Errichetto of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for John A. Valenti will be Saturday, June 19, at 8 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. He leaves seven grandchildren, Paige and Elizabeth Phillips, and Sarah, Liza, Zachary, Joseph Jr. and Katie Valenti; a great-grandchild, Kaylee Valenti; two daughters-in-law, Diane (Quadrozzi) Valenti and Marie (Christian) Valenti, and a son-in-law, Gary Phillips.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Army Pfc. Joseph Valenti, who died in Italy during World War II, and Alexander Valenti. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
