Julia M. McCumiskey, 88, of 4233 Deerbrook Way, Lilburn, Ga., formerly of 939 North St., died Wednesday at Emory Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Ga.
She had resided with her son, Peter McCumiskey, in Lilburn since 1999.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 28, 1915, daughter of Charles and Sabina Ostauski Oboyski, she was educated in local schools.
She moved to Westfield in 1969.
She had been employed by various businesses, including the former Agricultural Bank, Haynes Jewelry Store and the family-owned Oboyski Foodland. She retired in 1981 from the Heritage Bank in Westfield.
While living in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of both Holy Family and St. Charles' churches.
While in Westfield, she was a communicant of the Blessed Sacrament Church and an active member of its choir and Rosary Sodality. She was known as an accomplished auctioneer and raised money for the church at its annual bazaar.
Her husband, John McCumiskey, whom she married May 31, 1942, died in 1993.
Besides her son, she leaves a daughter, Martha Frisby of Chicago; a sister, Jennie Oboyski of Lilburn, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Julia M. McCumiskey died in Georgia on Wednesday, June 9. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 15, at 8:15 from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in Holy Family Church, celebrated by the Rev. Max Kishe, parochial vicar.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, June 14, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Mrs. McCumiskey also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missionaries of The Poor, P.O. Box 29893, Atlanta, GA 30359.
