Marijane Hickey

Marijane Hickey, 55, of 29 Tennyson Ave. died Sunday night at Berkshire Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident earlier that evening.

Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 17, 1948, daughter of the Benjamin and Laura F. Frenier Chitarra, she was a 1966 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Hickey had been employed as a human resources specialist by Berkshire County ARC for three years. She also was a travel representative associate for CruiseOne of Dalton. From 1990 to 1998, she was the human resources office manager for Epsilon Data Management.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a former communicant of All Souls' Church and president of its Ladies' Society.

She was the producer and director of "Speak Out Berkshires" on Pittsfield Community Television, and had served on the board of directors of the Colonial Theatre.

She and her husband, Thomas E. Hickey Jr., a former city councilor, were married Nov. 28, 1970.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Thomas S. Hickey of Pittsfield; a daughter, Katie Hickey of Pittsfield; a sister, Jeanne F. Donati of Estero, Fla., and a granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Marijane Hickey, who died Sunday, June 13, 2004, will be concelebrated Thursday, June 17, at 11 at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. John K. Sheaffer, administrator, and the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor of All Souls' Church.

Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 at DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Hickey may be made to the Berkshire County Jimmy Fund or to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.

Mrs. Hickey also leaves her granddaughter, Lauren Hickey; her mother-in-law, Yolanda Hickey of Pittsfield; two brothers-in-law, Douglas Donati and Frank Gwara; three nieces and their husbands, Stacey and J.J. Butler, Bonnie and Robert Connors and Jayne and Rick Stohr; two grandnieces, Katie Connors and Amanda Rivers, and two grandnephews, Jesse Rivers and Benjamin Stohr.
