Barbara M. Trahanas, 84, of 59 Bay State Road died Tuesday afternoon at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for a short time.
Born in Pittsfield on April 10, 1920, daughter of Thomas H. and Elizabeth Burns Drennan, she attended the former St. Charles' School and graduated in 1938 from St. Joseph's High School.
She also graduated from the nursing program at St. Margaret's Home for Children in Albany, N.Y.
Mrs. Trahanas was a pediatric nurse, caring for infants, for 12 years at the former Pittsfield General Hospital until 1957.
She was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church.
She and her husband, George P. Trahanas, were married in 1957.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mary Ellen Trahanas of Boston, a sister, Elizabeth A. Magner of Pittsfield and two grandchildren. A son, Thomas M. Bauwens, died July 1, 2002.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Barbara M. Trahanas, 84, died in Pittsfield on Tuesday, June 8, 2004. The funeral will be Friday, June 11, at 12:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 1 in St. Teresa's Church by the Rev. John J. Varley, pastor.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, June 10, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation in care of the funeral home.
Mrs. Trahanas leaves her beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel Bauwens.
