Charles Garfield Lembcke

Charles Garfield Lembcke, 93, of Kimball Farms, formerly of Schermerhorn Park, died Thursday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center.

Born in East Syracuse, N.Y., on April 21, 1911, son of Charles and Louise Lembcke, he attended schools there and graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was discharged as a first lieutenant.

Mr. Lembcke owned Lembcke Water Conditioning in Syracuse for many years.

In 1972, he purchased a house in Schermerhorn Park and retired there. He was an active member of the Church on the Hill and a volunteer at Tanglewood.

He enjoyed playing golf at Cranwell Resort and Spa.

He and his wife, the former Norma Louise Temple, were married Oct. 10, 1942.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Charles B. Lembcke of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters, Marcia Bernstein of Highland Park, Ill., Karen Calloway of Cleveland, Ga., and Susan Lembcke of Tabor City, N.C.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Charles Garfield Lembcke will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004, at 11 at Church on the Hill in Lenox, with the Rev. Natalie C. Shiras, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Lembcke is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew and Thomas Lembcke, Susan and Jennie Bernstein and Charles and Christopher Calloway; by two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and by his daughter-in-law, Jean Pyle, and his sons-in-law, Leon Bernstein, Sandy Calloway and Bill Perreault.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church on the Hill or the Lenox Public Library, both in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
