Paul Joseph Gangell, 54, of 44 Scalise Drive died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 13, 1949, son of Wesley and Margaret Keating Gangell, he attended Lee schools and graduated from Lee High School in 1969.
Mr. Gangell was co-owner of Janitec, a cleaning services and equipment company he founded with Richard Adams in 1983, at the time of his death. He had been a truck driver for NAPA and Crescent Creamery from 1969 to 1983.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, travel and cooking.
He belonged to the Faccioli of Pittsfield club and the Wahconah Country Club in Dalton.
He and his wife, the former Rosemary E. Caropreso, were married Aug. 6, 1988.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Richard Paul Gangell of Pittsfield; two daughters, Holly Lynn Gangell of Denver and Ashley Margaret Gangell of Pittsfield; a stepson, Jason Arthur Meaney of Pittsfield; a stepdaughter, Colleen Elizabeth Meaney of Pittsfield; four brothers, Thomas Gangell of Cleveland, Donald Gangell of Newnan, Ga., Michael Gangell of Massachusetts and Timothy Gangell of Port Richey, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Wilcox of Troy, N.Y., and Susan Crist of The Woodlands, Texas, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Paul Joseph Gangell, who died June 4, 2004, will be Tuesday, June 8, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. John K. Sheaffer.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, June 7, from 4 to 7. Mr. Gangell leaves two grandchildren, Colin and Joshua Meaney; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca J. Meaney, and his father- and mother-in-law, Arthur and Rita Caropreso of Pittsfield.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, relatives and his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashley Margaret Gangell Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
