Hugo E. Gundelfinger

Hugo E. Gundelfinger, 71, of 75 Sherwood Drive died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center, where he had been admitted Monday.
Born in Saarbrucken, Germany, in April 26, 1933, son of Leo Guild and Kaethe Whipple, he came to the United States in 1940, settling in New York City.
He attended schools in Flushing, and was a 1959 graduate of the University of Nevada in Reno, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering. He was also a graduate of the GE advanced engineering program.
He had lived in Lenox since 1974.
He was employed by GE for 31 years, retiring in 1990 as a consulting systems engineer.
Mr. Gundelfinger was a member of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church. He was a member of the Elfun Society, the IEEE and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.
He also enjoyed bridge, traveling, reading and music.
He leaves his wife, the former Julie P. Stavros, whom he married Aug. 18, 1957; two sons, Peter J. Gundelfinger of Gill and Eric M. Gundelfinger of Lanesboro; a daughter, Katherine M. Gundelfinger of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Hugo E. Gundelfinger, who died May 27, 2004, will be Tuesday, June 1, at 11:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Fr. John Kostas, presbyter of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, officiating.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Gundelfinger may be made to St. George's Greek Orthodox Church or to the Girl Scouts of Western Massachusetts in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
He leaves his two grandchildren, Jonathan Snow of Lee and John Gundelfinger of Gill, as well as his daughter-in-law, Suzanne Smiley of Gill. He was predeceased by a brother, John Gundelfinger.
