Giovanna Casella of 48 Hull Ave. died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since May 2.
Born in Andretta, Italy, on Nov. 24, 1921, daughter of Antonio and Josephine Gallo, she was educated in schools in Italy.
She had resided in Cheshire before moving to Pittsfield six years ago.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Casella had worked as a seamstress in her younger years.
She was a member of Christian Assembly Church and the Senior Center.
She enjoyed gardening, singing and knitting.
Her husband, Generoso Casella, whom she married in April 1959, died Aug. 22, 1973.
She leaves a son, Pasquale Casella of Pittsfield, and five grandchildren. Her daughter, Matilda Casella, died Nov. 6, 1995.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Giovanna Casella, who died May 29, 2004, will be conducted Wednesday, June 2, at 11 at Christian Assembly Church in Pittsfield by the Rev. Joseph Nieves, associate pastor.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, June 1, from 4 to 7 at DERY FUNERAL HOME. Mrs. Casella also leaves her grandchildren Generoso, Anthony, Joshua, Dulce and Dennis. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christian Assembly Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
