Suzanne Alberta Stewart, 75, of Forster Farm, Chestnut Hill Road, Orange, formerly of Dalton, died Monday at home.
Born on the family farm on March 19, 1929, daughter of Katherine Louise Foster Forster of Orange and the late Clifford John Forster, she was a 1947 graduate of Orange High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Fitchburg State College in 1951.
She had resided in Dalton for 21 years before moving back to the farm in 1981 to live with her mother and siblings. Her family kept a summer home on Little Two Mile Island on Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H.
A teacher, Mrs. Stewart taught at Monroe Elementary School in 1955 and was a substitute teacher in Dalton from 1968 to 1981. She worked for more than 30 summers in the craft shop at Sandy Island YMCA Family Camp on Lake Winnipesaukee.
While in Dalton, she attended the Congregational Church, where she was superintendent and a teacher in the Sunday school, and was an active member of the Berkshire County Cooperative Extension. She also had been a member of the Orange Historical Society.
She enjoyed cooking, and was known for hostessing large parties.
Her husband, Alan Perkins Stewart, whom she married Feb. 24, 1951, died May 18.
Besides her mother, she leaves three daughters, Bonnie L. Stewart of Ambler, Pa., Darlene Stewart of Gilmanton, N.H., and Cynthia Stewart Szafir of Easthampton; a son, Robert Stewart of Gilford, N.H.; a sister, Dorothy E. Forster of Orange; a brother, Clifford J. Forster Jr., of Orange, and eight grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Memorial services for Suzanne and Alan Stewart will be conducted today, May 27, at 1 at North New Salem Congregational Church, Elm Street, New Salem, by the Rev. Edward T. Boren, and at Sandy Island YMCA Family Camp on Saturday, June 19. Interment will be at Forster Farm, following cremation.

Mrs. Stewart's culinary skills were legendary, and you never left her home hungry.
