David D. Dixon, 82

RICHMOND, Mass. — David D. Dixon, 82, of 131 East Road died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Adams on March 19, 1922, son of Robert and Elizabeth Todt Dixon, he was a 1940 graduate of the former Adams High School.
An Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he flew 52 missions aboard a Liberator bomber as a radio operator and waist gunner from 1942 to 1945 in the European and African theaters. After the war, he was a warrant officer, junior grade, in the Army Reserve for 12 years.
Mr. Dixon was employed by GE in the Ordnance Division as a contract administrator for 46 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Berkshire Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lanesborough and a charter member of the Richmond Historical Society. He was a 53-year member and past master of Wisdom Lodge AF & AM and a past patron and 56-year member of Wisdom Lodge Order of Eastern Star. He enjoyed gardening and reading.
He and his wife, the former Barbara J. Colton, were married Dec. 29, 1946.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Stuart B. Dixon and his wife, Nancy, of Lenox; two brothers, Robert Dixon Jr. and Charles H. Dixon and his wife, Doreen, all of Adams; a sister-in-law, Virginia C. Larkin; a niece, Donna Collings, and a nephew, Christopher Dixon.
He was predeceased by his son Malcolm Dixon on July 23, 1989, and his sister, Jean Wilson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Dixon will be conducted Wednesday at 11 at Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lanesborough by Gary Wagner, pastor. Calling hours will be today, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME.
Burial will follow in Northeast Cemetery in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Berkshire Mission in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
