Shirley Willis, 69, of Dean Street, Schenectady, N.Y., died Thursday at St. Peter's Hospital in Schenectady of cancer.
She was the mother of Michael Willis of Pittsfield.
Born in Boston on Sept. 13, 1934, daughter of the late Leon and Margaret MacDonald Wright, she attended schools in Roxbury, and completed her nurse's training at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.
Mrs. Willis worked in hospitals in Boston as a registered nurse before moving to Schenectady in 1972.
She enjoyed gardening and collecting Boyds Bears.
She and her husband, Ronald Willis, whom she married in 1957, were married 47 years.
Besides her husband and son, she leaves another son, John Willis of Scotia, N.Y.; a daughter, Kathleen Willis of Plano, Texas; a sister, Barbara McLaughlin of Brooksville, Fla., and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Memorial services for Shirley Wright Willis, who died May 13, 2004, will be Monday at 7 at GRISWOLD FUNERAL HOME, 1857 State St., Schenectady, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call on the family from 6:30 until time for the service.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to SICM Food Pantry, 930 Albany St., Schenectady, NY 12307, to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308, or to the American Cancer Association, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
Survivors also include two daughters-in-law, Diane Willis and JoAnn Willis, and two grandchildren, Erin and Ashley Willis.
