Irene M. Lincoln Stanhope

Irene M. Lincoln Stanhope, 90, formerly of 17 Constitution Road, died Thursday evening at Springside of Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 2, 1913, daughter of Oliver and Maude A. Dupell Auger, she was educated in local schools.
Mrs. Stanhope was employed as a waitress at the former Lakeview Restaurant, retiring because of ill health. Before that, she had worked at the former Crane, Eaton & Pike Co., and then at Crane & Co. of Dalton for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church. At the age of 80, she became a volunteer with the Berkshire Medical Center Auxiliary.
She also was active in the Retired Senior and Volunteer Program through the Ralph Froio Senior Center.
Her former husband, Winthrop Lincoln, is deceased.
Her husband, James Stanhope Jr., whom she married Dec. 27, 1944, died July 8, 1981.
She leaves a son, Winthrop Lincoln of Woodstock, Vt; a stepson, James A. Stanhope III of Huffman, Texas; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a stepson, William S. Stanhope, and a daughter, Judieth Lincoln Tell.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Irene M. Auger Lincoln Stanhope, who died May 13, 2004, will be Tuesday at 10 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Charles' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., from 9 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Berkshire Medical Center Auxiliary and Volunteers in care of the funeral home.
