Aileen Marie McPhillips

Aileen Marie McPhillips, 88, of Melbourne Place retirement community died Sunday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pawtucket, R.I., on Nov. 17, 1915, daughter of Dr. James F. McGinn and Agnes D. Smith McGinn, she was a 1933 graduate of St. Xavier High School in Providence, R.I., and attended business school in Pawtucket.

She lived in Lenox from 1959 until moving to Cape Cod in 1978. She moved to Pittsfield in 1992.

Mrs. McPhillips was a homemaker.

While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church; in Lenox, she was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, where she was a member of the Rosary-Altar Society and a catechism teacher for many years.

She was fond of animals.

She and her husband, John T. McPhillips, were married June 14, 1941, in St. Mary's Church in Pawtucket.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Ellen M. McPhillips and Michele M. Vecchia, both of Pittsfield; a son, John M. McPhillips of Pittsfield, and five grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Aileen M. McPhillips, who died May 9, 2004, will be tomorrow, May 12, at 9:45 from ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Ann's Church in Lenox.

Burial will be Thursday at 1 at St. Francis' Cemetery in Pawtucket. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to either the Berkshire Humane Society, the Eleanor Sonsini Memorial Animal Shelter or the Christian Center of Pittsfield Food Pantry.

Mrs. McPhillips also is survived by her beloved grandchildren Scott A. and Thomas R. McPhillips, and Danielle M., Meaghan E. and Christopher-Michael Vecchia; her daughter-in-law, Karen E. McPhillips, and her son-in-law, Michael G. Vecchia.
