Donald Eugene Wilker

Donald Eugene Wilker, 93, formerly a longtime resident of 39 Forest Place and later of Rose Manor, died Thursday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had been a resident since January.
Born in Pittsfield on April 6, 1911, son of Walter W. and Agnes Wager Wilker, he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1932.
He served in the Army during World War II as a military policeman.
He worked as a papermaker at Crane & Co. in Dalton for 37 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church.
His wife, the former Thelma L. Corey, whom he married Feb. 12, 1944, died March 26, 2001.
He leaves two sons, Norman Wilker of Dalton and Gary C. Wilker of Pittsfield; a sister, Bernice Chittenden of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Donald E. Wilker, who died May 6, 2004, will be Tuesday, May 11, at 7 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Linda Shaw, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church, officiating. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 before the service. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Mr. Wilker loved his family and was a doting grandfather, known for his license plate, "Grandpa's Taxi Service." He also loved his Dunkin' Donuts coffee. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested for either Morningside Baptist Church or to Meals on Wheels program in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
A brother, John K. Wilker, and three sisters, Zelma Farrell, Vera Zink and Gladys Knight, predeceased him.
