Rocco DiNicola, 53, of 8 Spring St. died yesterday at home.
Born in Sambuceto, province of Chieti, Abruzzi, Italy, on Oct. 11, 1950, son of Marianna Spelorzi DiNicola of Sambuceto and the late Vittorio DiNicola, he attended schools there.
Mr. DiNicola emigrated to the United States in 1966 and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1969.
At the time of his death, Mr. DiNicola had been employed by Becton Dickinson & Co. in Canaan, Conn., for nine years. Before that, he worked for GE for 23 years, 20 of which were in the power transformer department in Pittsfield with three years in Schenectady, N.Y., and for Tri State Machinery in New Lebanon, N.Y., for a short time.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church.
He enjoyed traveling, woodworking and visiting Lebanon Valley Race Track.
Besides his mother, he leaves a son, Rocco Shannon DiNicola of Pittsfield; a daughter, Stacey Lee DiNicola of Pittsfield; a brother, Mario DiNicola of Pittsfield; a sister, Rosaria Tacconelli of Sambuceto, and his former wife, Cheryl Doty of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Rocco DiNicola will be Wednesday, May 12, at 8 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, May 11, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Mr. DiNicola also leaves nieces, nephews, greatnieces and -nephews, and cousins.
