Donna Ruth Spitzer, 53, of 103 Lincoln St. died Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 25, 1951, daughter of Mary Monroe Rider Brasie of Pittsfield and the late George Rider, she attended local schools.
She had been employed by the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association for 15 years, retiring in 1994 because of ill health.
She enjoyed shopping, going to fairs and was an avid collector of unicorns.
She and her husband, Charles R. Spitzer Sr., were married June 7, 1968.
Besides her mother and husband, she leaves a son, Charles R. Spitzer Jr. of Pittsfield; three daughters, Patricia L. Moser of Albemarle, N.C., Tina M. Spitzer and Tammy L. Calkins, both of Pittsfield; a brother, George Rider of Clarksburg; a sister, Denise M. Baker of Pittsfield; two stepbrothers, Skip Willis Brasie of Connecticut and John Brasie of Pittsfield, and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Donna Ruth Spitzer, who died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, will be held Tuesday, May 11, at noon at the DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel in Lanesboro, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She leaves her five grandchildren, Cassandra Hebler, Ashley Spitzer, Branden Moser, Cheyenne Calkin and Shelby Moser. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved her dogs, "Peanut" and "Tiny."
