Mary E. Thompson

Mary E. Thompson, 76, of 577 Elm St. died early yesterday morning at Providence Care Center in Lenox.

Born in Newton on Feb. 25, 1928, daughter of Henry and Mary Melanson Herlihy, she was a graduate of Lee High School.

At one time, she had worked for Kirk's Variety and the former First National Super Market.

Mrs. Thompson was a communicant of St. Charles' Church.

She enjoyed cooking.

Her husband, James B. Thompson, whom she married Aug. 27, 1955, died Dec. 26, 1998.

She leaves two daughters, Karen A. Wright and Christine M. Connors, both of Pittsfield, and two grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary E. Thompson, who died May 1, 2004, will be Wednesday at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at St. Charles' Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Concelebrating will be the Rev. Daniel B. Brunton, chaplain at Providence Care Center of Lenox.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or Providence Care Center, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, 01201.

Mary will be lovingly missed by her two grandchildren, Jennifer L. Wright and Timothy J. Wright. She enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren.
