David S. Andras

David S. Andras, 66, of 153 Cheshire Road died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center shortly after being admitted.

Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on Oct. 9, 1937, son of Josephine Vizi Andras and the late Stephen Andras, he was a 1954 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School there.

He also graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1956.

He served in the Army Reserve during the 1950s.

Mr. Andras was employed as a technician by GE and by General Dynamics for a total of 36 years, retiring in 1998.

He enjoyed traveling to Maine every year, and walking, bicycling, football and car racing.

He was 1962 drag race champion at the South Glen Falls (N.Y.) drag strip.

He and his wife, the former Shirley Shipman, were married Oct. 24, 1959, in Schenectady.

Besides his wife and mother, of Scotia, N.Y., he leaves two sons, Jeffrey Andras of Schenectady and Rick Andras of Albany, N.Y.; a daughter, Kellie Gouin of Ohio, and a granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- David S. Andras, 66, died May 1, 2004. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Cassandra Gouin, and his son-in-law, Michael Gouin. Calling hours will be tomorrow, May 4, from 5 to 7 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.

A prayer service will be held at 7 following the calling hours. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
