Kenneth W. Hadsell Sr

Kenneth W. Hadsell Sr., 79, of 13 Noble Ave. died Monday evening at home.

Born in Lebanon Springs, N.Y., on July 16, 1924, son of Morey K. and Grace H. Weavers Hadsell, he was a 1942 graduate of the former Lebanon Valley High School in New York.

A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he served as an anti-aircraft artilleryman from 1943 to 1946.

Mr. Hadsell was employed by GE as an assembler in the power transformer department for 39 years, retiring in 1987.

An avid gardener, he was a member of the Berkshire Pumpkin Growers for many years and won awards for his giant pumpkins at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield.

He also was a member of the Adams Budz VFW Post 8183 in Housatonic.

He and his wife, the former Patria Keating, were married in 1963.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Kenneth "Weaver" Hadsell Jr. and Peter Hadsell, both of Housatonic, and Keith Hadsell of Pittsfield; a daughter, Gloria Jean Hadsell of Housatonic; two sisters, Susan Huls of North Adams and Vera Wilson of Utica, N.Y., 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Kenneth W. "Kenny" Hadsell Sr., age 79, died April 26, 2004. Calling hours will be tomorrow, April 30, from 4 to 7 the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. A graveside funeral service will be at a later date in Pittsfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

He also is survived by his loving grandchildren, Heather, Desire, Evelynn, Lorie, Jennifer, Daniel, Kristopher, Kelly, Jamie, Samantha, Kaitlyn and Tanuya; his great-grandchildren, Joey, Dustin, Devon, Cassie, JT, Ethan, Douglas, Justin, Matthew, Makayla, Emily, Daniel Jr., Ian James, Kelsey and Thomas; his son-in-law, John Keresey, and his daughters-in-law, Terry Lynn, Diana Hadsell and Tracy Clark.
