Maria Whitcomb, 87, formerly of 379 East St., Providence Court, died Sunday evening at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in Pittsfield on March 20, 1917, daughter of Mario and Maria Cresante Disco, she attended local schools.
Primarily a homemaker, she was employed by the former Wyandotte Worsted Mills for a short time.
Mrs. Whitcomb was a member of the Christian Assembly Church.
She enjoyed reading the Bible and Italian cooking.
Her husband, Glen I. Whitcomb, whom she married Aug. 8, 1943, died June 3, 1992.
She leaves a son, Joel L. Whitcomb of Pittsfield; a sister, Josephine Arace of San Jose, Calif., two grandchildren and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Maria Disco Whitcomb, age 87, died April 25, 2004. She is survived by her grandchildren, Glen Whitcomb and Wendy Krupka, her great-grandson, Zackary Whitcomb, her daughter-in-law, Julia Whitcomb, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Donald Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Hillcrest Commons Family Council in care of the funeral home.
