Jeffrey Ellison Bruce, 60, of Walker Street died yesterday at home.
Born in Cleveland on Aug. 18, 1943, son of William Charles Bruce II and Mary Caroline Austin Bruce Bosworth Gepfert, he attended Evanston (Ill.) Township High School and Rye Neck High School in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
He resided in Becket for many years until moving to Lenox eight years ago.
A Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he served there from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1966.
Mr. Bruce was a self-employed carpenter for many years, retiring last year because of poor health.
He was an avid skier and fisherman.
He leaves his wife, the former Andrea Yurtin Coulehan, whom he married Aug. 25, 2002; two daughters, Brehan Bruce of Kailua, Hawaii, and Jennifer Parkins of Willits, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Kate Coulehan of Stockbridge and Sammye Coulehan of Pittsfield; two brothers, Peter Austin Bruce of Fort Worth, Texas, and Joseph Bruce of Texas; three sisters, Sarah Caroline Austin of Concord, N.H., Gracy Mary Cooper of New London, N.H., and Stephanie Schropshire of Texas; his stepfather, Alan Gepfert of New London, and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A service of remembrance celebrating the life of Jeffrey Ellison Bruce, who died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday morning, April 27, 2004, will be conducted Saturday, May 1, at 10:30 at Church on the Hill in Lenox by the Rev. David Hurst, pastor of Grace Union Church in Wilbraham.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
He also is survived by his beloved granddaughter, Dar River Durkin, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Bruce, and his stepfather Elbert Bosworth.
