Pearl P. Schreck, 89, formerly of 46 Walchenbach Circle, died Friday at Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital.
She had resided in Fairfield, Conn., for the past eight years with her daughter, Linda Schreck.
Born in Newburgh, N.Y., on Oct. 23, 1914, daughter of Isidore and Esther Orenstein Pomerantz, she was educated in New York City schools.
She moved to Pittsfield in 1941.
Mrs. Schreck volunteered in the library at Temple Anshe Amunim for 38 years and received her Bat Mitzvah there in 1980 as an adult. She was a longtime member of Junior Hadassah in Albany and B'nai B'rith in Pittsfield, and a member of Hadassah of the Berkshires.
She was active in the Temple Anshe Amunim Sisterhood, chairwoman of the library committee and a docent at the Berkshire Museum.
She enjoyed reading, music and the arts, and had traveled to Israel and Europe.
She and her husband, Nathan Schreck, were married May 14, 1941. He died in 1996.
Besides her daughter, she leaves another daughter, Dr. Carole Schreck of Armonk, N.Y.; a brother, Dr. Norman Pomerantz of New York City; a sister, Lillian Pom-erantz of New York City, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral and burial for Pearl P. Schreck, who died April 23, 2004, will be tomorrow at Ahavath Shalom Cemetery, with Rabbi Harold Salzmann officiating. The family asks those attending the service and burial to gather at 12:45 tomorrow at Temple Anshe Amunim library, 26 Broad St., for a preliminary service.
The funeral and burial in Ahavath Shalom Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
Survivors also include her grandchildren, Gregory and Jill Kochman of Fairfield, and nieces and nephews.
