Ida D. Magnano

Ida D. Magnano, 76, of 49 Longfellow Ave. died Monday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, shortly after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Born in Pittsfield on June 24, 1927, daughter of Erminia Bernardo Rodrigues of Pittsfield and the late Audre Rodrigues, she was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1947 graduate of Wilfred's Beauty Academy of Boston.

A hairdresser, Mrs. Magnano had been employed at the former England Brothers' beauty salon and the former Wanda's Beauty Salon.

She also styled hair for the women at Berkshire Place and at Meadow Place in Lenox until retiring in 2000.

She was a communicant of All Souls' Church.

An avid golfer, she was a member of the GE Athletic Assocation Ladies' Golf League and of the Italian-American Club.

She enjoyed shopping and traveling.

She and her husband, Anthony J. Magnano, would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on May 7. They were married in St. Joseph's Church.

Besides her mother and husband, she leaves a daughter, Sandy Consolati of Lee; a son, Thomas Magnano of Mandeville, La.; a brother, Benjamin Rodrigues of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ida D. Magnano, who died Monday, April 19, 2004, will be tomorrow, April 22, at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at All Souls Church by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, April 21, from 4 to 7 to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lee High Football Light Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 1201.

Mrs. Magnano also leaves her son-in-law, Steve Consolati, and her granddaughter, Jenna Consolati, both of Lee.
