Phebe Wing, 93, of Kimball Farms retirement community died Saturday at Kimball Farms Nursing Center.
Born in Oberlin, Ohio, on March 1, 1911, daughter of Earl F. and Katharine Crafts Adams, she grew up in Clarksville, Conn., and graduated from Mrs. Day's School in New Haven, Conn. She also graduated from Smith College in 1932.
She had been a summer resident of Monterey since the late 1920s.
A homemaker, Mrs. Wing did volunteer work for many years in the communities where she resided and as a member of Congregational and Episcopal parishes.
She was a communicant of St. Helena's Chapel and was involved in developing community life at Kimball Farms, including resident governance and cultural activities.
She was a member of the Kimball Farms bell ringers.
Her husband, Arthur K. Wing Jr., whom she married June 23, 1932, in New Haven, died April 8, 1998.
She leaves a son, Arthur K. Wing III of Suffern, N.Y.; a daughter, Delight W. Dodyk of Ridgewood, N.J.; a sister, Jean Adams Spining of Southbury, Conn., five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Phebe Wing, who died April 18, 2004, will be held today, April 20, at 10 at St. Helena's Chapel in Lenox.
Burial will be at a later date in Old Center Cemetery, Monterey. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to St. Helena's Chapel or to the Berkshire Center for Children and Families through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
